These are some of the statistics that motivate and inspire us to do what we do.
- Re-offending costs the UK £12 billion each year.
- England and Wales release 90,000 prisoners per annum. 60% re-offend within two years.
- Employment reduces the probability of re-offending by 33-50%.
- 75% of ex-offenders have no job on release.
- The estimated cost for every single re-offender is approximately £200,000.
- 25% of all prisoners leave prison to homelessness.
- Employment and accommodation are the two most effective interventions in reducing re-offending.

Blue Sky statistics
- 37% of Blue Sky participants are designated as PPOs (Prolific and Priority Offenders).
- 13% of new employees are homeless and 50% are living in “non-settled accommodation”. 57% of those who successfully complete their Blue Sky contracts have gone into full-time employment or education.
- In the first 2½ years of its existence, Blue Sky has employed 92 ex-offenders
- 43% of participants are referred by the Probation Service and 16% are referred directly from prison.
- The company was founded in 2005 by Mick May, Executive Director of regeneration charity, Groundwork Thames Valley. Mick is now Blue Sky’s Chief Executive.
- Blue Sky Development & Regeneration became a registered charity in March 2007.
